AT A GLANCE
Orion Hive provides comprehensive mechanical engineering services, including the design and engineering of high-performance HVAC systems tailored to project-specific requirements. Our expertise covers chilled water, VRF/VRV systems, and ventilation systems developed to ensure optimal indoor air quality and regulatory compliance. We perform detailed heating and cooling load calculations, carefully select the mechanical equipment and accessories, and provide testing, commissioning, and performance validation to ensure systems operate efficiently and in full alignment with design intent.
Our cooling and heating loads are calculated using the ASHRAE Heat Balance Method through industry-standard software such as Elite, E-20 and Carrier HAP 6.2. This method evaluates building envelope heat transfer, solar gains, lighting, equipment and occupancy loads, ventilation and infiltration, and hourly design weather conditions.
High Accuracy — Dynamic hourly analysis with proper sensible/latent separation
Cost Savings — Prevents equipment oversizing and reduces capital cost
Energy Efficiency — Optimised system sizing improves operating performance
Better Comfort — Accurate humidity and temperature control
Equipment selection is carried out using manufacturer-certified selection software such as ZALIM, Daikin, Carrier and Trane to ensure precise matching with the calculated heat loads and project requirements.
Our selection process considers exact sensible and latent load requirements, design ambient conditions, required airflow and static pressure, part-load performance and efficiency curves, and acoustic and space constraints.
Accurate Matching — Equipment capacity closely aligns with calculated loads
Optimised Capital Cost — Right-sized equipment reduces upfront investment
Improved Energy Efficiency — Selection based on real operating conditions
Reliable Performance — Compliance with technical standards and warranties
Our duct systems are designed in accordance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and applicable international and local standards. Duct sizing is performed using McQuay Duct Sizer along with manual calculations to accurately control airflow, velocity, noise criteria, and static pressure, ensuring minimal friction loss and optimised fan performance.
Aspect Ratio — Maintained within 1:4 to reduce pressure loss and improve efficiency
Static Optimisation — Proper routing and head management to balance the system
Noise Control — Velocity regulation, acoustic lining, and sound attenuators
Thermal Protection — Appropriate insulation to prevent heat gain/loss and condensation
Our chilled water piping is designed as per recognised velocity and head loss guidelines to ensure hydraulic efficiency and reliability. Pipe sizing is performed using McQuay Pipe Sizer with engineering calculations to control flow rate, velocity, friction loss, and optimise pump head.
Improved Pump & Chiller Efficiency — Lower pressure loss reduces energy use
Optimised Material Selection — Pipes chosen to minimise internal friction
Balanced Flow Distribution — Ensures proper heat transfer across all equipment
Valves & Meters Provision — Isolation, balancing, control valves and BTU meters
Our BIM models are developed to LOD 400 and LOD 500, covering all mechanical systems including ductwork, piping, equipment, and accessories — fully coordinated with all MEP disciplines across the entire project.
We produce complete project documentation aligned with client and project workflow requirements.
Since 2022, ORION HIVE has been steadily building its presence as a focused and dynamic engineering firm, delivering reliable HVAC solutions across diverse sectors.
With over 10,500 man-hours of dedicated engineering work, supported by a core team of 8 designers and engineers and the trust of more than 20+ clients, we have successfully contributed to 20+ Projects — including residential homes, workspaces, restaurants, hotels, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, retail centres, entertainment spaces, and institutional projects.
Though young and compact in scale, we operate with one coherent vision: to deliver efficient, coordinated, and sustainable HVAC systems that enhance building performance, ensure safety, and create long-term value.
